Nado’s Notions: Week 8

Season record: 19-15-1

Last week: 3-2 (Cincinnati/West Virginia over 63.5, Missouri +5.5, TCU +6, Oklahoma -6.5, Wake Forest -9.5)

It was a winning week, but with two losses that were not even close, there is plenty of room to improve. The SEC has been carnage this season and Missouri and Oklahoma felt it last week. Unfortunately for me, I had them.

Let’s do better this week!

Baylor Bears (4-2) @ Kansas Jayhawks (2-4) | October 24 | 12:00 PM CT | David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium

Line: Baylor -2.5 | Total: 52.5

Last week Baylor faced the Big 12’s top defense in TCU and came away with a loss. The Bears were held to a season-low six points. The good news is they will get a much lighter matchup this week.

The Kansas defense has been shredded in recent weeks. The Jayhawks gave up 545 yards against Utah then 568 against Kansas State.

As Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway and the offense look to get back on track, this defense is certainly gettable.

Give me Baylor -3.

GAINESVILLE, FL – OCTOBER 10: LaNorris Sellers #16 of the South Carolina Gamecocks runs with the ball during the game between the Florida Gators and the South Carolina Gamecocks on October 10, 2026 at Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, Fl. #11 Tennessee Volunteers (6-1) @ South Carolina Gamecocks (3-3) | October 24 | 2:30 PM CT | Williams-Brice Stadium

Line: South Carolina | Total: 50.5

Last time we saw South Carolina, they were pulling off an upset win in “The Swamp”. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers was sensational, tossing four touchdown passes and rushing for another.

Sellers and the Gamecocks will meet a Tennessee defense that was equally impressive their last time out. The Volunteers held Alabama to 201 yards and only 12 first downs.

Offensively, Tennessee is led by running back DeSean Bishop. In conference play, Bishop averages 137.8 rushing yards per game. The Volunteers rely on him heavily since they are last in the conference in passing at 188 yards per game.

The South Carolina run defense was up to the challenge last time they faced a talented running back. The Gamecocks held Florida running back Jadan Baugh to 59 yards on 15 carries earlier this month.

Cue “Sandstorm”, I am taking South Carolina -2.5.

NORMAN, OK – OCTOBER 17: Oklahoma Sooner quarterback John Mateer (10) looks to pass during the college football game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Kentucky Wildcats on October 17, 2026 at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, OK (Photo by Chad Hamilton/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images)

Oklahoma Sooners (3-3) @ Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-2) | October 24 | 2:30 PM CT | Davis Wade Stadium

Line: Oklahoma -4.5 | Total: 44.5

Oklahoma enters this game with the SEC’s worst offense in terms of yards per game. The Sooners average only 311.5 yards per game

As for the Mississippi State offense, they went without quarterback Kamario Taylor at LSU last week. That did not go well for the Bulldogs as they were shut out. Taylor is listed as questionable heading into this game.

Whether it is no Taylor or a limited Taylor, the Bulldogs face an uphill battle in the Oklahoma defense. The Sooners are top five in total defense, allowing only 260.7 yards per game.

I am not sure who covers here, but I do feel confident in saying this one will be low scoring. I am taking under 44.5.

BOULDER, COLORADO – OCTOBER 17: JaQuail Smith #23 of the Colorado Buffaloes runs with the ball for a touchdown during the third quarter against the Utah Utes at Folsom Field on October 17, 2026 in Boulder, Colorado. (Photo by Andrew Wevers/Getty Images)

Colorado Buffaloes (2-4) @ Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-2) | October 24 | 6:00 PM CT | Boone Pickens Stadium

Line: Oklahoma State -13.5 | Total: 56.5

I am once again asking, “Do you believe?”. I get the pessimism around Colorado after dropping four straight. However, quarterback Isaac Wilson appears to be a great kid. Just listen to the words of running back JaQuail Smith.

Smith is also showing it on the field with his rushing and receiving ability. He averages just over five yards per carry and had this catch and run for a touchdown last week.

Against an Oklahoma State defense that gave up 505 yards last week, I think the Buffaloes should keep this close. Give me Colorado +13.5.

MORGANTOWN, WV – OCTOBER 10: Noah Fifita (1) of the Arizona Wildcats looks to pass while under pressure during the college football game against the West Virginia Mountaineers on October 10, 2026 at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia. Iowa State Cyclones (3-3) @ #25 Arizona Wildcats (5-1) | October 24 | 6:30 PM CT | Casino Del Sol Stadium

Line: Arizona -10.5 | Total: 50.5

Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita is off to a strong start this season. Fifita is averaging 9.2 yards per pass attempt on the season. Furthermore, he has nine touchdowns in his last three games.

Fifita will take on an Iowa State pass defense that allowed 11 yards per attempt last time out.

The Iowa State offense has been lacking in the passing game. At 178.2 passing yards per game, the Cyclones are last in the Big 12.

The Arizona defense has been very good at home. In their last home game, the Wildcats held Cincinnati to only 227 yards. Arizona did not allow any points until the final two minutes of the game, when Cincinnati scored their only touchdown of the game.

Arizona -10.5 is the pick.
