Season record: 35-31-2
Last week: 2-2 (Oklahoma -9, LSU -7, Virginia +28, Clemson/Virginia over 55.5)
Championship week was nothing to brag about, but I managed to finish the season with a winning record. Bowl season is now upon us. If they are going to play games, I am going to try to pick them.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Bowl games bring a lot of uncertainty, so I am only going to give out one pick for now. This one I feel pretty good about it.

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (9-3) vs. Miami Hurricanes (6-6) | December 26 | 3:00 PM CT | Independence Stadium
Line: Miami -6 | Total: 50
The Miami Hurricanes ended the season on a two-game skid. They did so against less-than-stellar opponents in Florida International and Duke. Those teams had a combined regular season record of 11-13.
Those lackluster performances led to this guarantee.
Now they will be taking on Louisiana Tech, who will essentially be playing a home game. Quarterback J’Mar Smith was 9-1 as a starter this season. The lone loss came against Texas back in August.
The Miami defense has been stout this season, allowing only 307.6 yards per game. However, they will be without several key players who are skipping the Independence Bowl. Senior linebacker Michael Pinckney (64 tackles, 5 sacks), senior defensive end Trevon Hill (4.5 sacks), and junior defensive end Jonathan Garvin (5 sacks) have all anounced they will not play in this game.
Junior wide receiver Jeff Thomas (379 yards, 3 touchdowns) will also skip this game.
On the Louisiana Tech side, junior cornerback Amik Robertson will not play in this game. Robertson leads the team with five interceptions and intends on turning pro.
Louisiana Tech is going for their first 10-win season since 1984 while Miami is likely just ready to get out of Shreveport as quickly as possible. Louisiana Tech +6 is the pick.
