Nado’s Notions: Week 7

Season record: 18-11

Last week: 2-3 (Michigan -16.5, Iowa State/Cincinnati over 53.5, Michigan State +11.5, Florida State +4.5, Mississippi State +14.5)

First, an abbreviated edition of SEC Hot Seats before we get to the Notions.

SEC Hot Seats

Billy Napier is once again defying the odds. Florida beat Florida as an underdog as Napier is doing what it takes to save his job similar to what he did in 2024. “Boppa” said it best here:

Can he keep the momentum going as the Gators head to College Station to take on undefeated Texas A&M?

The other SEC coach squarely on the hot seat is Kentucky’s Mark Stoops. Kentucky got throttled at Georgia this weekend. The Wildcats’ SEC losing streak is now at eight going back to last season.

This will likely be Stoops’ last season in Lexington. It is just a matter of when his firing is announced.

That is enough about Kentucky Football. I need to do better before I end up on the hot seat!

COLUMBIA, MO – SEPTEMBER 27: Missouri Tigers running back Ahmad Hardy (29) shrugs off the tackle attempt of Massachusetts Minutemen defensive lineman Zachary Farris (29) to slip into the end zone for a touchdown during a non conference game between the Massachusetts Minutemen and the Missouri Tigers held on Saturday September 27, 2025 at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium in Columbia MO. #8 Alabama Crimson Tide (4-1) @ #14 Missouri Tigers (5-0) | October 11 | 11:00 AM CT | Memorial Stadium

Line: Alabama -3 | Total: 51.5

As you have probably noticed, the SEC is deeper than it has ever been. With 16 teams, the parity has reached another level. Alabama is clearly aware having fought off a frisky Vanderbilt team last week.

Missouri sits at 5-0 and looking to prove themselves as a contender in the SEC race. Running back Ahmad Hardy leads the country in rushing yards per game at 146.

The Alabama defense has not always held up against the run this season. Florida State ran for 230 yards and Georgia ran for 227 yards. The Crimson Tide kept Vanderbilt in check for most of the day, but did allow a 65-yard touchdown run to Sedrick Alexander.

On the flip side, Alabama has not had much rushing success this season. The Crimson Tide ranks 96th nationally with 3.89 yards per carry.

While Missouri is largely untested, the Tigers defense has been stingy. Missouri is only allowing 203.8 yards per game.

The better rushing attack at home catching points? I am taking Missouri +3.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – OCTOBER 04: Kaidon Salter #3 of the Colorado Buffaloes carries the ball for a touchdown as Namdi Obiazor #4 of the TCU Horned Frogs defends during the first half at Amon G. Carter Stadium on October 4, 2025 in Fort Worth, Texas. (Photo by Ron Jenkins/Getty Images)

#22 Iowa State Cyclones (5-1) @ Colorado Buffaloes (2-4) | October 11 | 2:30 PM CT | Folsom Field

Line: Iowa State -3 | Total: 52.5

The Iowa State defense is searching for answers after giving up over eight yards per play against Cincinnati last week. A big reason for the Cyclones’ struggles was the loss of starting cornerbacks, Jeremiah Cooper and Jontez Williams. Iowa State was burned for several big plays, including an 82-yard touchdown pass that would seal the game for Cincinnati.

Iowa State will face another potent passing attack in Colorado this week. Colorado quarterback Kaidon Salter has thrown for six touchdowns in the last three games. Their top three receivers all average at least 15 yards per catch.

While Colorado has lost their last two, they have been competitive in both games against BYU and TCU.

It was reported that head coach Deion Sanders underwent surgery this week for blood clots.

We all know that some things are bigger than sports (credit to Rico Bosco), so look for the Buffaloes to play inspired football this Saturday. I am taking Colorado +3.

EVANSTON, ILLINOIS – SEPTEMBER 27: Joseph Himon II #6 of the Northwestern Wildcats runs the ball in the NCAA football game between UCLA and Northwester Wildcats at Martin Stadium on September 27, 2025 in Evanston, Illinois. (Photo by Michael Hickey/Getty Images)

Northwestern Wildcats (3-2) @ Penn State Nittany Lions | October 11 | 2:30 PM CT | Beaver Stadium

Line: Penn State -21.5 | Total: 47.5

There is just no way the vibes at Penn State are good right now. From an OT loss against Oregon in the “White Out” game to an embarrassing loss to winless UCLA, things cannot be good for the Nittany Lions. Now, they host Northwestern as a massive favorite.

Last time the Wildcats were a massive underdog, they covered thanks to this long run against Oregon.

Give me Northwestern +21.5.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – OCTOBER 04: Joseph Manjack IV #14 of the TCU Horned Frogs catches a touchdown pass as Preston Hodge #4 of the Colorado Buffaloes looks on during the second half at Amon G. Carter Stadium on October 4, 2025 in Fort Worth, Texas. (Photo by Ron Jenkins/Getty Images)

TCU Horned Frogs (4-1) @ Kansas State Wildcats | October 11 | 2:30 PM CT | Bill Snyder Family Stadium

Line: TCU -1.5 | Total: 56.5

In TCU’s lone loss of the season, the Horned Frogs were without wide receiver Eric McAlister. With him in the lineup, the TCU offense has looked almost unstoppable. McAlister has five touchdowns in the last two games he has played in.

TCU has scored 35 in each of those games, wins over SMU and Colorado.

Last week, Kansas State faced another impressive passing attack in Baylor. Baylor quarterback Sawyer Robertson would go on to throw for 345 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Bears escaped with a win.

This should be another high-scoring affair. I am taking both TCU -1.5 and over 56.5.

Air Force Falcons (1-4) @ UNLV Rebels (5-0) | October 11 | 2:30 PM CT | Allegiant Stadium

Line: UNLV -6.5 | Total: 65.5

UNLV has been one of the good stories in college football so far this season. The Rebels have won thanks to an explosive offense and fortuitous defense. The Rebels lead FBS with a +8 turnover margin.

Air Force has lost four straight, but moving the ball has not been an issue for the Falcons. Air Force ranks 16th in the country in yards per play at 7.07.

The Air Force defense, however, is the worst in FBS in terms of yards per play allowed. The Falcons give up 7.71 yards per play.

I respect the troops too much to take UNLV, so I am going over 65.5.
