Season record: 3-1
Last week: 3-1 (Auburn/Baylor over 57.5, Indiana -22.5, Florida State +13.5, TCU -3.5)
Auburn and Baylor provided enough points on Friday night to get us home with the over. A huge boost came from this kickoff return for a touchdown.
Saturday was a split as Indiana did not dominate in usual fashion. However, Florida State dominated Alabama and covered easily. On Monday night, TCU dominated North Carolina to cap off a 3-1 week.
This week’s slate does not offer much in the way of high-profile matchups, but that does not mean we are going to stop hunting for winners.

Baylor Bears (0-1) @ #16 SMU Mustangs (1-0) | September 6 | 11:00 AM CT | Gerald J. Ford Stadium
Line: SMU -2.5 | Total: 65.5
SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings turned in an efficient performance in SMU’s season-opening win over East Texas A&M. Jennings completed 22 of 30 passes for 260 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also ran for a score.
The Baylor defense was vulnerable against the run against Auburn last Friday. The Bears allowed 307 rushing yards in their 38-24 loss. Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold rushed for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The Baylor offense with Sawyer Robertson is plenty explosive. The Bears piled up 483 yards last week, with 419 coming through the air.
This game will come down to which team can get stops. I feel better about the Mustangs’ ability to do so. I am taking SMU -2.5.

UAB Blazers (1-0) @ Navy Midshipmen (1-0) | September 6 | 2:30 PM CT | Navy-Marine Corps Stadium
Line: Navy -21 | Total: 60.5
UAB had one of the worst run defenses in FBS in 2024. The Blazers allowed 212.9 rushing yards per game last season. That appears to be the case again this year. UAB allowed Alabama State to run for 202 yards last week.
Check out how porous the UAB defense looks here.
This week they get Navy who will run it, run it, and run it some more. In their season opener, Navy ran for 464 yards in their win over VMI.
Let’s respect the troops! Navy -21 is my pick.

#14 Ole Miss Rebels (1-0) @ Kentucky Wildcats (1-0) | September 6 | 2:30 PM CT | Kroger Field
Line: Ole Miss -10 | Total: 50.5
Kentucky won ugly in their season opener over Toledo. The Wildcats hung on for a 24-16 win. Now, they host Ole Miss, who is coming off a 63-7 win.
Ole Miss, despite Austin Simmons throwing two interceptions, looked unstoppable on offense. The Rebels rolled up 695 yards of offense in their win over Georgia State. Simmons will now make his first career road start in Lexington.
The Wildcats defense put together an impressive performance in their win over Toledo. Kentucky did not allow a single point on the Rockets’ first ten possessions last Saturday. Kentucky strangled Toledo’s ground game, holding them to 59 rushing yards on 29 carries.
Conversely, the Wildcats have a strong running back duo of their own in Dante Dowdell and Seth McGowan. Dowdell and McGowan combined for 207 rushing yards and a pair of scores.
I like the Wildcats to muck this game up enough to cover. Give me Kentucky +10.

South Florida Bulls (1-0) @ #15 Florida Gators (1-0) | September 6 | 3:15 PM CT | Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
Line: Florida -17.5 | Total: 56.5
After an upset win over Boise State, you would expect a letdown coming for South Florida. However, with a few days extra rest and a matchup against the in-state Gators, the Bulls should be ready to go.
South Florida quarterback Byrum Brown was one of the stars of college football’s opening week. Brown threw for 210 yards and ran for a pair of touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Florida is coming off a win over a team that could have passed for Bishop Sycamore. The Gators also have a road trip to Baton Rouge on deck.
Give me South Florida +17.5.

UCLA Bruins (0-1) @ UNLV Rebels (2-0) | September 6 | 7:00 PM CT | Allegiant Stadium
Line: UCLA -2.5 | Total: 55.5
If you have not checked out the UNLV Rebels yet, it might be time to. New head coach Dan Mullen has put together an exciting offense in short order. Transfer quarterback Anthony Colandrea has fit in nicely and is averaging 10.1 yards per attempt on the season through two games.
UNLV will take on a UCLA defense that was shredded last week. In their 43-10 loss, the Bruins allowed 492 yards of offense.
Meanwhile, their new quarterback Nico Iamaleava had a less than stellar performance. Iamaleava completed 11 of 22 passes for 136 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
You do not just stroll into Allegiant Stadium and expect to win.
I am taking UNLV +2.5.
