Top Five New Orleans Rappers

Once again, the Super Bowl is back in New Orleans. New Orleans is home of Mardi Gras, vibrant music, and so much more. With that said, many well-known rappers started their careers in New Orleans. That gives me a chance to highlight my top five here after a small hiatus due to Glendale and Las Vegas’s lack of exploits.

Here are my top five New Orleans rappers:

5. 504 Boyz

The 504 Boyz make my list as a group. Under the No Limit umbrella, they put out some bounce classics like “Wobble, Wobble” and “Grab Da Wall”. The group last put out an album in 2005, but with the success of Liangelo Ball’s “Tweaker”, I would like to see them give it another run.

4. Soulja Slim

Pour one out for Soulja Slim. He was a real one. R.I.P.

3. Master P

If there is a godfather of New Orleans rap, it would have to be none other than Master P. Master P is the mastermind behind No Limit Records. With an illustrious music career, Master P also made a name for himself in television and sports. Who could forget him as Ricky Williams’ agent?

And who can ever forget this hit song?

2. Juvenile

Juvenile takes the number two spot on my list. His “Back That Azz Up” is the quintessential club song that still gets the dance floor going. Then there is “Nolia Clap” which is another timeless classic kept alive from marching bands all over the south.

1. Lil’ Wayne

The top spot of New Orleans rappers belongs to the one and only Lil’ Wayne. Lil’ Wayne keeps it New Orleans, he sleeps with the women that sleep with the Hornets. He is a New Orleans [redacted], he gets Superdome. He is so Holly Grove, that’s been his hood since a snotty nose.
