The Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back Super Bowl Champions. Receiver Mecole Hardman was the unlikely hero as he reeled in Patrick Mahomes’s touchdown pass in overtime.
This play won the game for the Chiefs, but Hardman did not even realize it.
The Chiefs winning the Super Bowl is not surprising, but no one would have expected it to be Hardman to score the game-winning touchdown. Well, no one except for my friend, James Vidrine. James thought it would be a good idea to use his free $5 bet on Hardman to score a touchdown, which was met with skepticism, and rightfully so.

Hardman was not exactly productive leading up to the Super Bowl as you can see below.

However, James, or “Guy”, which he also goes by, just knew Hardman would come through. So when Hardman got into the endzone, hilarity ensued.

James produced his ticket slip, just in case there are any doubters.

Credit to James, but the absurdity of Hardman’s season does not end there.
Coming off his Super Bowl performance, Hardman appeared as a guest on The Pivot. He talked about his time with the New York Jets, who he began the season with. Hardman signed a 1-year, $6.5 million contract with the Jets and things went south quickly. A summary of the podcast is below.
This is just a classic case of an athlete using a podcast to boost his ego, but it led to reports of Hardman leaking Jets’ game plans to opponents.
Hardman clearly ruffled some feathers within the Jets organization. However, he did defend quarterback Zach Wilson. Wilson has been the subject of criticism since taking over for Aaron Rodgers. He was thrust into a difficult situation and few took that into account.
Sounds similar…
Mecole Hardman 🤝 me
Thank you Mecole Hardman for supporting Zach Wilson, winning James Vidrine’s bet, and completing one of the funniest seasons ever. It would have been the funniest season ever had a guy by the name of Antonio Brown never played in the NFL. Nothing can top Brown taking off his pads and running off the field, which coincidentally happened against the Jets.
Hopefully Hardman can avoid a similar path.
