The 2023 NBA Draft has come and gone. While #1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama drew the most buzz leading up to the NBA Draft, it was former Kansas swingman Gradey Dick that stole the show on draft night.

The NBA Draft is largely uneventful nowadays with a large presence of players coming from overseas and development leagues. I, personally, did not watch a second of it as I was watching LSU take on Wake Forest in the College World Series. However, as many of you know, I am addicted to Twitter, so I was able to follow along with the draft coverage.

Again, there was not much to really get excited about. There was one exception, and that came from Dick. (Pause!)

The NBA Draft has seen all kinds of crazy suits and wardrobe throughout its history, however, nothing as striking as the all-sequined look Gradey Dick sported on draft night.

Who can forget the 2003 NBA Draft class and their ridiculously baggy suits?

While this draft class featured several NBA legends like Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Lebron James (Year 21 loading 😤) , it will be also remembered for their fashion choices. This collective group had a 20-year run as the most distinguishable draft night attire. That was until Dick moved in to claim that honor.

Dick’s wardrobe was certainly loud, but he did not let it do all the talking.

I also have to disagree with Barstool Big Cat on the rationale behind the suit. The bedazzled suit actually draws more attention to Gradey Dick’s name. The suit also gives us an insight to the man wearing it. I do not really understand TikTok, but it appears that Dick does.

Sure, it is from March, but it was not until the night of the NBA Draft that it really took off.

Dick would go on to be picked by the Toronto Raptors with the 13th overall pick. That prompted this very important question.

It is yet to be determined if Dick will become boys with Drake or whether he can be a star in the NBA, but he will always have the 2023 NBA Draft. Gradey Dick shined both literally and figuratively.
