Is Football Ready for the Dual Quarterback Offense?

I love football. I have spent my whole life enjoying the game. During the fall, I will spend hours upon hours watching football. Now, thanks to various forms of social media, football can be observed year round.

When you can put aside all the bickering, Twitter can be a fun place. It is a good place to watch football clips that I may have missed otherwise. One of my favorite accounts to follow for this type of content is Coach Dan Casey.

While all of the stuff he puts is great, there was something he shared that really caught my eye. As you know, football continues to evolve. Offensive football looks much different than it did even just ten years ago. But are we ready for two quarterbacks on the field at the same time?

What a fun play. Call it gimmicky all you want, but you have to admit it is effective. Or maybe you are thinking that only programs like Kansas run this type of play. Well, here is Alabama running a similar play.

When you have two future NFL quarterbacks in Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts, you find a way to get both on the field. Again, it is very effective.

While Kansas and Alabama threw in the dual quarterbacks as a wrinkle, Princeton has made an entire offense out of it.

The old saying was “if you have two quarterbacks, you don’t have one”. Perhaps that phrase is dated as football continues to evolve. As you can see, having two quarterbacks on the field presents quite a challenge for opposing defenses.

Will we see more of this and will defenses come up with a way to stop it?
