Virginia Doesn’t Belong in the SEC

News broke last week that the SEC was considering expansion in the wake of the Big Ten (not sure why they still call themselves that) adding UCLA and USC.

Braden Keith, who owns a website called swimswam.com, posted the above tweet and went viral. Now, you can ask yourselves how someone who runs a swimming website would get this information. I understand the skepticism, but let’s put that aside.

Keith named four schools: North Carolina, Florida State, Clemson, and Virginia. Wait, Virginia? Yeah, I know about their basketball program and the title they won in 2019. Heck, I know about their men’s tennis and women’s swimming and diving championships in 2022.

But being in the SEC, it just means more and I don’t think Virginia has what it takes. Sure, Virginia produced the likes of Tiki Barber, Ronde Barber, Heath Miller, and Chris Long. Their school’s reputation precedes them, however.

The aforementioned Chris Long is now in the sports media business. His Green Light podcast is on the way up, but is he ready to defend his alma mater against Colin Cowherd?

Back when I still listened to Cowherd, one of his most memorable rants was when he teed off on Virginia. Go ahead and have a listen for yourself.

We don’t need those creampuffs in the SEC, now do we?
