This is a pretty wild story surrounding a Nirvana album cover. Spencer Elden came out of the clouds to file a lawsuit against Nirvana and other parties behind using his image as album artwork. Whether Elden’s claims are legitimate or not, I have to respect this move.

While this lawsuit appears frivolous, it is a masterpiece in terms of public awareness. Odds are if you grew up in the 1990’s, you know this album cover. However, you had no idea who Spencer Elden is. And now you do.

Even if this lawsuit gets thrown out, Elden has a chance to profit off of his likeness. In a day and age where everyone is cashing in on their fifteen seconds of fame, good on him for going for it.

The big hurdle for Elden is that he recreated the image that he is suing over.

When all is said and done maybe he will drop the suit and say “Never mind.”, but props to Elden on generating headlines thirty years later.
