Social Media Platforms and Their Drug Counterparts

One of the biggest news items of the weekend was President Donald Trump banning the app TikTok. I will let you come to your own conclusions as to why. However, with TikTok back in the news, I had to reflect upon my first impression of it.

Needless to say, I never really found TikTok very appealing. This app is where social media users go off on the deep end. Filled with weird dancing and strangers, you will ask yourself how you ended up here.

Thankfully, like heroin, it is also illegal (or soon will be).

So what does that make other social media platforms?

Facebook is like marijuana. For most, both were first used in college, but now are enjoyed by older folks as well.

Twitter is very fast-paced and information comes in at warp speed. That would make its counterpart cocaine. Cocaine is a stimulant and Twitter is often no different. The interactive nature of the platform makes users feel a wide variance in emotions. When you get on Twitter, you can expect laughing, arguing, and everything in between. Like cocaine, the action comes in short spurts, which is due to Twitter‘s 280-character limit.

You are probably looking forward to an Instagram analogy, but I am going to leave that up to my readers. What should it be?
