Nado’s Notions: Super Bowl Edition

As you all know the Super Bowl is this weekend. Apparently, only the NFL is the only entity allowed to use the term “Super Bowl”, but I am going to go ahead and use it anyway.

Goodell, be damned. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will square off in the Super Bowl LIV and I have some picks.

I will go ahead and say that I have no idea who wins this game. Both teams are very good and I could see either winning. In order to get picks, I had delve a little deeper. So here is what I came up with.

tiktok

I went off the beaten path for the first pick. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a brother who has made a name for himself on the new social media application, TikTok.

From Distractify

On Instagram, the TikTok star currently boasts 67.3k followers, and on TikTok, he has over 193,000 followers. His net worth is currently under review, according to Mixed Article. But it seems like he’s doing well nonetheless, creating a wide variety of lifestyle videos.

Outside of the world of TikTok, according to the creator’s Instagram account, Jackson seems to spend the majority of his free time hanging out with his doggoing to concerts, and cheering on his brother at football games. (While also making TikTok videos at said football games.) His relationship status is also unconfirmed, but he can often be found hanging out with beautiful women at football games on Instagram. So it goes without saying he seems to be doing well for himself.

It seems as though Jackson’s decision to not ultimately pursue athletics full time has worked out for him — he appears to enjoy — and succeed — at creating high quality lifestyle videos, while simultaneously building his Instagram following. IDK about you, but I’ll be keeping my eye on him — it seems like Jackson is really going places.

For better or worse, Jackson Mahomes dance moves are featured almost as much as Patrick Mahomes passes.

Not even snow could stop Jackson Mahomes from TikTok’ing his ass off. However, this is the Super Bowl and it would be wise to take a back seat to his older brother on Sunday. I am taking the value play here and going under 5.5 TikToks at +145.

touchback

I know everyone loves to choose heads or tails on the coin toss because they want immediate action. Instead of doing that, I have a better way to satisfy that itch. This game features two of the top kick returners in the league in Mecole Hardman for Kansas City and Richie James for San Francisco. Hardman had 27 returns in the regular season, while James had 20. Hardman also has 10 kickoff returns in the postseason alone. You want action? These two guys will give it to you. Another value play with no touchback at +130.

ARod

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are providing the halftime entertainment at the Super Bowl. If you have not spent the past two years in a cave, you know that Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are dating. Is it even a question that he will get shown at some point during halftime? How could FOX ever deprive us of moments like this?

Yes at +145 is a must play.

Damien

So, back to the props about the game. Everyone knows about Patrick Mahomes’ favorite targets Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill. The 49ers will play a cover 3 which should neutralize some of Mahomes’ downfield threats, which will leave the underneath open for running back Damien Williams. Thanks to Dan Orlovsky for his analysis here.

Damien Williams over 30.5 receiving yards -120

JimmyG

Did you know that Jimmy Garoppolo only attempted eight passes in the NFC Championship Game? Yeah, you probably did. It has been mentioned at least once a day since that game against the Packers.

Another thing you have probably heard about is Kansas City’s inability to stop the run. However, that is something that may be in the past. The Chiefs limited Titans running back Derrick Henry to 69 yards (nice!) on 19 carries in the AFC Championship Game.

What does that mean?

We can expect to see the 49ers throw the ball more in the Super Bowl than they did in the NFC Championship Game.

Let’s look at how many pass attempts opposing quarterbacks have had against the Chiefs in the playoffs. Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson had 52 attempts, while Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill had 31 attempts.

I will take Jimmy Garoppolo over 29.5 passing attempts at +115.

Sanders

Emmanuel Sanders has had a quiet postseason thus far. He only has two catches for 33 yards. However, I expect that to change in the Super Bowl. I just stated that I believe that Garoppolo will throw the ball more in this game. That presents opportunities for Sanders, who is the only 49ers receiver with Super Bowl experience. He made it once as a member of the Steelers and once as a Bronco.

Listen to Garoppolo talk about his experience.

My final pick is Emmanuel Sanders over 44.5 receiving yards at -115.
